Olivia Goes Urban - Class of 2020

Olivia's mom called to book a senior session for her daughter last Summer.  I got some background as to what Olivia was involved in, as I had never met this family, and was told she is a musician and is part of School of Rock.  She plays guitar, keyboard and is an amazing singer, as well.  I had the perfect spot for her session, but wanted to meet with Olivia and her mom at the location I had in mind first to make sure they were on board.  We met in Denver in an alley in RiNo.  Not just any alley, but the coolest alley in the city, in my opinion.  Several different artists were given a section of wall space in this alleyway to create a piece of art.  It is Ahhh-Mazing!  What I had envisioned was Olivia on top of a piano in the middle of this alley dressed up in a beautiful gown. That was a great idea, but not really feasible.  What was doable was photographing Olivia in a couple of different gowns with her guitar, as well as some additional outfits and looks.  We got her session on the books and honestly, it was one of the coolest, most creative sessions I have ever shot.  The colors, her dresses, her guitar, the graffiti art, the incredible weather and light on this particular day ... it was all just perfect.  But more importantly, I forgot to mention how awesome Olivia and her mom were to work with.  Loved every minute and they chose a session with multiple locations, so I was lucky to get to photograph Olivia a second time on a different date in the town in which I live; Golden, CO (separate blog post to come)!  The RiNo session was, as I stated, in an alleyway and it was busy with passerby's which made wardrobe changes a challenge.  I was, however, prepared for this and brought a Pop-Up-Pod (pictured in this post) so that changing clothes in this space would be easy.  There was a salon entrance in the alley and Olivia's mom asked a beautician if she could create a quick up-do for her daughter.  She was on board and worked on her hair while she sat on my pretty turquoise chair (which looked so cool with the graffiti art, by the way).  We were ready to go and I'm super excited to share her images with you.  I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!
