WOW! Such a wonderful year 2011 was for my first full year in business! I am excited to have started this blog so that I can share some of my experiences with you!
I feel oh so blessed that I was given the opportunity to photograph so many wonderful families last year while making many new friendships along the way! I have spent hours going through images from last year trying to pick out my personal favorites. Along with photography comes challenges, as well as many rewards! My most challenging session was photographing a 32 year old horse, a dog, two young girls, and their mother. They happen to be some of my most favorite pictures from last year! During the Senior shoot I did in Kansas City, I ran into some homeless men under a bridge while trying to get down to some train tracks and was almost attacked by several wild dogs, as well. While photographing my cousin's family, their dog ran loose and my second cousin ran after him and ripped a huge hole in her jeans as she dove after the little guy. Off went the jeans, but luckily she had black leggings on underneath. Another funny moment was when a mom was not happy with her son's hair. She just happened to have some scissors in her purse, so the little boy's Aunt trimmed his bangs on the railroad track. Made me laugh! A very touching moment was when the owner of the 32 year old horse opened up her prints and began to cry. She said, "You've just made my heart so happy." She has had her horse since she was 12 years old, so for her to have these memories is truly special. A very close friend of mine, who has beat Cancer two times in her young life, was participating in the Livestrong Challenge in Austin, Texas last Fall. I donated my time to photograph she and her family up in the mountains for her fundraising web site. In return, which NOTHING was expected, she surprised me and bought me a plane ticket to go visit my sister in Minneapolis. Feeling that appreciated is something I will never ever forget.
I am so passionate about what I do and in making your session a great experience! Photographing a family is so very personal, and I feel blessed to have been given the opportunity to create memories for some really terrific people! Thank you, dear clients, for your business! I hope you enjoy seeing some of my favorite images from 2011 and I can't wait to see what 2012 has to offer! Cheers!!!
