A very good friend of mine approached me this past week and asked if I would do a favor for her family. Her father-in-law, Terry, was diagnosed with Cancer a little over a week ago and the Cancer is in his brain, liver and bones. She asked if I could photograph their family members, who live here, with Terry before he had surgery. He was scheduled to have surgery to remove a malignant tumor from his brain this past Friday. "Yes, Yes, Yes," was my answer. "What time do you need me?" We met at Terry's house last Thursday, the afternoon before his surgery. I wasn't sure what to expect, knowing his diagnosis and prognosis, and having never met this side of their family before. I was greeted with a great big hug from Terry and a lot of smiles. Their family made me feel so welcome and were extremely appreciative of me donating my time to capture moments with Terry before he began a very long and painful journey. I was also surrounded by a group of men who drove to Colorado from Nebraska to be by their friend's side. A pretty special group of people Terry is surrounded by, I must say!
This first image is of Terry (in the purple) and his best buddies from Nebraska.
These are Terry's three beautiful grandchildren, Emery, Hadley and Cade. Oh how they love their Grandpa!
This is Terry's beautiful wife, Marilyn. I love this picture.
Three generations. Can't you see the resemblanse???
Mr. Cade, you and your Grandpa are sooo funny! How precious is this!?
My friend Jess and her husband BT, along with BT's dad and wife.
I think this might be my favorite image! You would never know that he is sick! So full of life...
Last picture taken with Terry, his son and all of his buddies.
What a humbling experience this was for me. How can I ever complain about anything? My prayers are with this family as they embark on some very challenging and emotional times ahead. I was so honored to capture these moments of you with your father, grandfather, father-in-law, husband, and friend. God bless!
